Merry Christmas

If Santa gave presents based on how good at blogging you are, then I would surely receive not even a lump of coal.

Forgive me. Please. Moving to another country was and is still a long process. A month later and I've still got one suitcase to unload and not only have I managed to catch some long lasting lingering cold, I'm being eaten alive by bugs. Seriously. This topical cream I am using to make them go away isn't really working and I'm worried I'll have these round ugly pigmentation marks on my legs for the rest of my life.

Until I finally settle down and sit back from this Christmas business (in the Philippines the Christmas season lasts during all months that end with 'ber'- it can be overwhelming), I wish all of you a very Merry Christmas. I hope your Christmas season is everything you want and more.

New Beauty Adventures

Good morning, beauties.

It’s 9:50 AM Sunday morning here in the Philippines and I’m enjoying it by sipping a tall Toffee Nut Latte and updating all of my Internet life. Thank goodness for WiFi access at Starbucks! It’s going to have to do until I figure out how exactly I want to get my Internet for however long I decide to live here.

There’s still more unpacking to do and trying to figure out storage solutions for my makeup is proving to be a little tough. However, there are options that are not Sterilite or Rubbermaid but still very similar and sometimes cost a lot less. How fantastic is that! If anyone out there knows of any storage solutions I can easily get my hands on in this neck of the woods, please let me know.

As far as the beauty products available here- I’m feeling overwhelmed, but in the good way! Not only are all my favorite high-end brands available here (albeit at higher prices) so are most of the US drugstore brands (also cost more here and actually have their own counters at some department stores) and tons of products from countries like Japan and Korea. Stores that are brands new to me, like The FACESHOP and the Beauty Bar are at just about all the malls I frequent. So exciting!

I can’t wait to share my finds with all of you :)

Apologies

My sincerest apologies, friends.

I moved on the 17th, arrived here in the Philippines on the 18th, and I have yet to hook myself up in the Internet department at the house.

I'm coming to you from a Starbucks right now, enjoying the Internet at about 100 PhP an hour or so. I think. I have no sense of time here.

Once I am situated, I promise more regular posting :)

Till then, loves!

A Temporary Hiatus

This brunette needs to take some time off from the blog as she moves her butt from one country to another.

Miss you already.

The Art of Beauty - Nordstrom’s 2009 Holiday Cosmetics Trend Show

Standing in a line the length of maybe 10 or so store fronts at 8 o’clock in the morning is not my typical Saturday morning, but sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do. So after just a few hours of sleep I made my way to Nordstrom at Ala Moana for their 2009 Holiday Cosmetics Trend Show.

The atmosphere was buzzing with a mixture of excitement and half-sleep as we eagerly awaited the opening of the doors. The crowd was overall a couple of decades older than me- it was fun to hang out with beauty junkies with knowledge of years and years of beauty products come and gone. The guest speakers/artists were amazing, albeit I felt a little bad since the excitement that seemed to exist waiting outside the doors vanished once seated around the little runway that was set up on the third floor. For companies that didn’t have guest speakers/artists there to present videos were shown talking about the latest products in cosmetics and skin care. This bummed me out a bit as my appointment for the second part of the Trend Show event was with Dior and no guest speaker showed up for them :(

All attendants received a tote bag with a few perfume and cologne samples. The tote bag came in real handy as I used it to store the samples being given out by many of the counters. Beauty product lovers- trend shows like these are a great place to get trial sizes of new products to try.

Lots of notes and new goodies later I returned home exhausted and found myself on the couch falling asleep to some college football.

What a great morning.
